Chloe Sevigny was born on 18 November 1974 in Springfield, Massachusetts, US. She is the daughter of Janine (nee Malinowski) and H. David Sevigny, an accountant and interior painter. She is Polish-American from her mother’s side and a French-Canadian from her father’s side. She lost her father to cancer in 1996. she grew up in Darien, Connecticut. She is the younger sister of Paul, a New York DJ. She attended the Darien High School, while studying at the school she did babysitting for Topher Grace on different occasions.
When she turned eighteen, she moved to her own apartment in Brooklyn. At present, she owns an apartment in East Village, Manhattan, which cost her $1.2 Billion in 2006.
Her first film ‘Kids‘ was surrounded by controversies; it was given an NC-17 rating by the MPAA because of the graphic depiction of sexuality and drug use by the teenagers. She acted in some more films after this. Some of them are- ‘Trees Lounge’ (1996), ‘Gummo‘ (1997), ‘Palmetto’ and ‘The Last Days of Disco’ (1998). She rose to fame with her acting in ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ (1999). This film was a biopic of Brandon Teena who had to go through rape and murder in 1993
After this, she got to do a supporting role in ‘American Psycho‘ and co-starred in ‘If These Walls Could Talk 2′ in 2000. Back in 1999, she acted in an experimental film ‘Julien Donkey-Boy’ and in ‘A Map of the World’. She earned small roles in ‘Demonlover‘, ‘Party Monster’, ‘Death of a Dynasty‘ and ‘Dogville’.
In 2003, one more film, in which she acted, was surrounded by controversies, and the name of the film is ‘The Brown Bunny‘. The controversy was for its final scene, involving an act of unsimulated fellatio performed by the actress on Vincent Gallo. Sevigny was dropped out by the William Morris Agency, as its client, after the release of this film.
On television, she appears in the role of “Nicolette ‘Nikki’ Grant” in the HBO series named ‘Big Love’. She also has to her credit, a TV film named ‘Mrs. Harris’.
She was nominated for the prestigious Oscar Award in 2000 for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for ‘Boys Don’t Cry’. In the same year, she also was a nominee for the Golden Globe Award for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for ‘Boys Don’t Cry’. In addition to this, she won the Golden Satellite Award for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, Drama for ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, and was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards in the category Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, for the same film. She was also nominated for many other awards at different times, in vivid categories and she became the winner of many of them.
